Tulip – A Year in the Making

There’s something special about tulips—their simple elegance, the way they stand tall with soft curves. When I started working on Tulip, I wanted to capture that essence, but not in a traditional way. Instead, I let the painting take shape organically, focusing on texture, movement, and rich, deep tones that invite you to pause and take it in.

This piece took a full year to complete. I built it up layer by layer, letting each stage settle before coming back with fresh eyes. The texture under the acrylic paint gives it depth, so depending on the lighting and angle, different details emerge. That’s something I love about textured pieces—they have a way of shifting with their surroundings, always offering something new to notice.

Even though Tulip has now found its home, I love revisiting the process behind it. Every painting has its own story, and I’m always excited to create more.

If this piece speaks to you or sparks an idea, I’d love to chat about a custom commission. There’s something really special about creating a painting that’s personal and tailored just for you.
