How to Know If an Artwork Is ‘The One’

I truly believe that when it comes to choosing art, your gut knows long before your head does.

Maybe it is a moment that makes you pause.

Maybe it will be a quiet pull in your chest.

Or maybe it is that feeling that makes you double take and come back around for another look...

Art is deeply personal... it should feel like something that fits. So rather than worrying about rules or trends, I always encourage people to lean into instincts.

Here’s how to recognise when a piece is the one.

1. You keep coming back to it

Even after scrolling or browsing, your mind wanders back to it. That’s your intuition nudging you. Roll with it!

2. You imagine it in your space

You may find yourself picturing it above the bed, near the sunlight, or in that cosy corner you’ve been wanting to finish. Maybe you walk away from it at the time, but when you come back to that space, you can just see it where it should be

3. It makes you feel something

Calm. Joy. Warmth. Energised. It brings back a visceral memory, or a feeling of a time long past. Art that moves you, stays with you.

4. It feels like “you”

Not just beautiful - but aligned. Colour, story, emotion… something just clicks and feel rights.

5. You’re curious enough to ask a question

This is a drive toward connection. You want to know it's story, how it came to be, who created it and why.

Making the Decision Easier

Buying art should feel exciting, never stressful. If a piece has caught your eye, I’m always happy to support with:

In-person viewings in my studio or in your home

On-location mock-ups so you can see the artwork in your space

A conversation - sometimes we just need to talk through what we’re feeling

Commission options if your heart wants something similar, but bespoke

Art finds the people it’s meant for. If something is calling to you, reach out - I’d love to help you explore it.
